Terms of Service

These terms govern your access to and use of Kanz — our mobile and web applications, websites, and related services. Please read them carefully.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Kanz — our mobile applications, websites, and related services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use Kanz.

These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle information. By using Kanz, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

2. Who We Are

Kanz is operated by AshReef, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In these terms, "Kanz," "we," "our," and "us" refer to the operators of Kanz services at kanz.et and related domains.

3. Eligibility

Kanz is a business tool. You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement under Ethiopian law to use the service. Kanz is intended for commercial use by shops and businesses — it is not offered for personal, non-business purposes.

Access to Kanz is tied to your phone number. You must provide a phone number you legitimately control, and you are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account.

4. Your Account

Your phone number is your account. Access codes sent to your number (such as one-time passcodes) are equivalent to credentials — anyone with access to your phone and messages can access your account, so keep your device secure.

  • Keep your phone number accurate and under your control.
  • If you invite staff members and assign them roles, you are responsible for the activity performed under those roles.
  • Notify us promptly at support@kanz.et if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5. The Service

Kanz provides tools for running a shop: point of sale, inventory management, sales reporting, staff management, and related features. Kanz is designed offline-first — it works without an internet connection and synchronizes your data with our servers once a connection is available.

We work to keep Kanz useful and reliable, but we may add, change, or remove features over time. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service where reasonably necessary — for maintenance, improvements, or circumstances outside our control.

6. Early Access

Kanz may be made available to some or all users before its general release, as an early access or beta version. During this period:

  • The service may be incomplete, change frequently, or contain bugs.
  • Features, interfaces, and pricing that are shown or described are not final.
  • We do not guarantee any level of availability, performance, or continuity during early access.
  • We may pause, limit, or end early access at our discretion, at any time.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve Kanz without any obligation to you.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse Kanz. In particular, you will not:

  • Use Kanz for any unlawful purpose, or to sell illegal goods or services.
  • Fraudulently manipulate sales, reports, or records, or misrepresent your business through the service.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, our infrastructure, or other users' access to Kanz.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, resell, or redistribute Kanz or access to it, in whole or in part.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without authorization.
  • Use another person's account without their permission.

We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who breaches these rules.

8. Your Data

Your shop data — your product catalogs, sales records, inventory, and team information — belongs to you. You grant us only the permission needed to host, process, and sync that data in order to operate Kanz and provide support, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Because Kanz is offline-first, your transaction data is stored on your own device until a network connection allows it to synchronize with our servers. Data that has not yet been synchronized exists only on that device. If the device is damaged, lost, stolen, reset, or the app is deleted before synchronization completes, that unsynchronized data may be lost. We are not responsible or liable for such loss.

Please keep your device in good condition, avoid deleting the app or clearing its data, and ensure your device connects to the internet regularly so your records are synchronized and backed up on our servers.

9. Third-Party Services

Kanz may interoperate with third-party services — for example payment providers such as Telebirr and banks, mobile networks, or app stores. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services, and any agreement you enter with those providers is between you and them.

10. Fees

Kanz is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce fees or paid plans in the future. If we do, we will give reasonable advance notice, and the pricing will take effect on the date stated in that notice. Your continued use of Kanz after that date constitutes acceptance of the new fees.

Any taxes that apply to your use of the service or your business operations are your responsibility.

11. Termination

You may stop using Kanz at any time. If you wish to have your account and data removed, contact us at support@kanz.et.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Kanz if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the service, other users, or third parties. Where reasonably practicable, we will notify you before or after taking such action, and your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Kanz is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind — express or implied — about Kanz, including its availability, reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Kanz is an internal sales and inventory tracking tool. It is not certified accounting, tax, or legal software. You are solely responsible for your own tax reporting, VAT compliance, and other legal obligations under Ethiopian law. AshReef does not provide financial or legal advice, and is not liable for claims, penalties, or disputes arising from your tax or compliance obligations.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AshReef's total liability for any claims arising out of or related to Kanz or these terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, while Kanz is free, may be zero. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. Any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to Kanz, our practices, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through the app, website, or other appropriate channels.

Continued use of Kanz after an update becomes effective indicates acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you must stop using the service.
